Record Windows system audio without a microphone
Play audio and check that the waveform moves before you start. System audio captures sound from the selected Windows output, not from your microphone; it can include several apps at once.
Choose the right audio source
Capture audio played by Windows without using a microphone.
Choose an input device and check its waveform and level before recording.
Record step by step
- Open Audio Recorder+, select System audio and choose the output device you are listening through. Follow the system default, or choose a specific device such as USB headphones.
- Play audio and check that the waveform moves before you start. System audio captures sound from the selected Windows output, not from your microphone; it can include several apps at once.
- Choose a save folder and MP3 or M4A/AAC up to 128 kbps for a free recording. Click Start recording, then Stop recording when finished. Higher bit rates, FLAC and WAV require Pro.
No signal? Check these first
Confirm that the source is playing and Windows is sending its sound to the selected output. Speakers, Bluetooth headphones and USB devices can be different sources. Changing the file format will not fix a missing input signal.
After switching output devices, check the selection and waveform again. Make a short recording and play it back before a long session. To exclude other apps, use the selected-app recording guide.
Keep the sound, skip the silence
You start and stop the recording. Once started, sound activation can pause during silence and resume when sound or speech returns.
Include a short moment from just before recording resumes, helping prevent clipped first words and abrupt transitions.
Your recordings stay on your PC
Recording, sound detection, noise reduction and encoding happen on your computer. Your audio is not uploaded.
PrivacyMake a short test recording
Record about 30 seconds, stop, and open the file in the app you will use to play, share or edit it. Check the opening words, level and playback compatibility before a longer recording.
