Record audio from a selected app
Choose a supported app, check its live waveform for audio input, then record it without other app audio.
Choose the right audio source
Choose a supported app, check its live waveform for audio input, then record it without other app audio.
Capture audio played by Windows without using a microphone.
Record step by step
- Open the app you want to record and start playback. In Audio Recorder+, select App audio, then choose that running app as the target.
- Check the waveform and level meter. You can check the input before buying; starting a selected-app recording requires Pro. This records audio, not the screen or video.
- Choose a format and save folder, click Start recording, then stop and listen to a short test before recording a longer session.
To record a YouTube video playing in a browser, select the browser as the target application, such as Chrome or Edge. The target is the browser, not the web page.

App and Windows compatibility
Support depends on your Windows version and the target app. App audio is not available on every Windows 10 configuration. Check for a moving waveform on your own PC rather than assuming every app is compatible.
If there is no signal, check that the app is playing and the correct target is selected. System audio is a fallback, but may include other apps. Buying Pro does not make an incompatible target work.
Check that other apps are excluded
Pause the selected app and play sound in another app. Check that the other app does not produce a signal for the selected target. Resume the target, record a short clip and listen back to confirm.
Make a short test recording
Record about 30 seconds, stop, and open the file in the app you will use to play, share or edit it. Check the opening words, level and playback compatibility before a longer recording.
